Raytheon adds former Pentagon no. 2 Work to board

Raytheon adds former deputy defense secretary Robert Work to the company's board of directors.
Raytheon has added former deputy defense secretary and long-time national security veteran Robert Work to the company's board of directors with his term effective immediately.
Work is the latest former Defense Department official to join the board of directors at a major government contractor. Former Pentagon acquisition chief Frank Kendall joined Leidos' board in July and that was preceded by former Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James' appointment to Textron's board in June.
He served as the Pentagon's second-highest ranked civilian in both the Barack Obama and Donald Trump administrations from May 2014 until July of this year. Work also is a former Navy undersecretary and served in that role between 2009 and 2013.
In between those roles, Work led the public policy think tank Center for a New American Security as CEO in a one-year stint.
Work was an officer in the Marine Corps for 27 years and retired at the rank of colonel in 2001. He then joined the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments and later became a vice president there until his 2009 Navy undersecretary appointment.
