Adnet wins $242M NASA earth science R&D recompeted contract

Bethesda, Md.-based Adnet retains its R&D work for NASA's Earth and space science programs under a new potential five-year, $242 million contract.
Adnet Systems has won a potential five-year, $242 million contract to continue its research-and-development services for NASA in Earth and space science disciplines.
Bethesda, Md.-based small business Adnet retains the work it performed for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center under the predecessor contract. The new Space Science and Data Analysis IV contract contains two base years with options to extend work for another three years.
NASA has funded approximately 92 percent of the current SESDA III contract to date, according to Deltek. That potential five-year, $250 million contract is slated to expire on Sept. 30, 2017.
Adnet also won the SESDA II iteration in 2006 for a potential six-year, $221 million value. NASA has competed the last three iterations of SESDA as small business set-asides.
Under SESDA IV, Adnet will work with NASA to develop and use both scientific computer systems and engineering data analysis systems. The company will also support efforts to create and implement new scientific instrumentation technologies, software applications and computer systems to manage science exploration research.
The agency envisions the SESDA work as supporting science disciplines of solar and space plasma physics, astrophysics, astronomy, studies of planets, atmospheric science, climatology, oceanography, land processes, geodynamics and geography.
