SAIC wins potential $621M Central Command IT services order

Science Applications International Corp. takes a potential five-year, $621 million task order for IT services to Central Command.

Science Applications International Corp. has won a potential five-year, $621 million contract for IT support services to Central Command at Centcom's headquarters in Tampa, Fla. and overseas locations.

The General Services Administration awarded the order under the Alliant contract vehicle via a full-and-open competition. The Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Enterprise Support order also known as C4ES covers one base year with four one-year options.

Through the C4ES order, SAIC retains work it performed under a predecessor five-year contract scheduled to expire on Sept. 6. The company has received approximately $408 million in obligations-to-date against the potential $433 million total value, according to Deltek.

Contract recompetes have been a main focus for SAIC this year as work under the company's largest contract -- the Army's AMCOM Express -- is being shifted to three large individual task orders under GSA's OASIS professional services vehicle.

SAIC scored one recompete win through the Virtual Systems Engineering Services order that has a potential five-year, $402.2 million value. General Dynamics Information Technology's protest of the VSES award was denied, SAIC CEO Tony Moraco told investors during the company's first quarter earnings call in June.

Raytheon unseated SAIC in June for the Strategic Systems Engineering Services order worth up to $575 million over five years.

Under the new C4ES order, SAIC will support Centcom's J6 directorate that oversees the command's IT services and works to enable information sharing. Work will take place at Centcom's hub at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa; its forward headquarters in Doha, Qatar; and multiple international locations.

Deltek's description of C4ES lists requirement areas as:

  • Command, control, communications and computer systems support
  • Theater network operations
  • Engineering support including enterprise IT, networks and software
  • Cybersecurity support including defensive cyber and insider threat
  • Chief information officer support
  • Resource management
  • Knowledge management
