Engility adds former Army acquisition lead McFarland to board

Engility has appointed former Army acquisition leader Katrina McFarland to its board of directors as the panel's 11th member.

She was elected for a one-year term on the board that takes effect immediately. Her appointment comes nearly one week after the former Pentagon acquisition chief Frank Kendall joined the board of directors at Leidos.

McFarland retired from her three-decade civil service career in January that included a nine-month stint as assistant army secretary acquisition, logistics and technology. She oversaw all areas of the Army's acquisition function such as lifecycle management and sustainment of weapons systems and research-and-development programs.

During that tenure, McFarland led efforts to stand up the Army's Rapid Capabilities Office for quicker acquisition and delivery of combat technologies. She helped the Air Force launch its own Rapid Capabilities Office in a prior role as assistant defense secretary for acquisition.

Her civilian career also includes time as science adviser to the Army secretary, the branch's senior research-and-development official and senior procurement executive. She also served as acquisition director at the Missile Defense Agency from May 2006 to November 2010.
