Leidos appoints 30-year defense sector vet new general counsel

Leidos names three-decade aerospace and defense legal veteran Jerald "Jerry" Howe general counsel as one of its key leaders during the company's transformation eyes retirement.
Leidos has appointed three-decade aerospace, defense and intelligence legal veteran Jerald "Jerry" Howe as executive vice president and general counsel.
He will start in the role July 15, upon which current EVP and General Counsel Vincent Maffeo will retire from the company. Maffeo oversaw the legal aspects of the former Science Applications International Corp.'s 2013 split into the companies now known as SAIC and Leidos, as well as Leidos' merger into the former Lockheed Martin IS&GS business last year.
Howe's career includes roles such as senior VP and general counsel at TASC, the same positions at Veridian Corp. and owner and principal at consulting firm InSequitur.
More recently, Howe was a partner at law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP and advised clients on government contract litigation, investigations, bid protests, mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions.
