Ohio company tapped to support Space Command operations

An Ohio-based company has been tapped by the Air Force to help with software development for space operations under a $7.5 million contract.
An Ohio-based company has been tapped by the Air Force to help with software development for space operations under a $7.5 million contract.
Design Knowledge Co. of Fairborn, Ohio will work with the the Joint Space Operations Center on its mission system. The company will carry out software development work for a user-defined operational picture.
The Joint Space Operations Center is part of the U.S. Strategic Command and has five areas of operations: space object identification, spectrum characterization, launch and re-entry support, joint forces support and contingency operations.
The mission system project is intended to replace the legacy Space Defense Operations Center and some portions of the Correlation, Analysis and Verification of Ephemerides Network systems. The Air Force has described them as “aging and unsustainable.”
The mission system is used to coordinate and plan space operations for the Air Force and combatant commands.
Design Knowledge has supported this project for several years and the contract runs through Sept. 30, 2018.
