Aixxia to build DARPA research innovation platform

Aixxia receives a $13.4 million "other transaction agreement" award to build an online innovation environment for DARPA scientists and engineers.

Research and technology company Aixxia has received a $13.4 million award structured as an “other transaction agreement” to develop an organic innovation platform for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Aixxia will work to build an online environment for DARPA scientists, engineers and other users to explore new scientific ideas and concepts. The agency also seeks to connect qualified researchers with interested sponsors through this OTA.

DARPA awards OTAs to companies or organizations that do not often contract with the government but conduct research on technology with potential applications for the military.

OTAs are also used when the main focus of the agreement is to create a prototype.

The agency will obligate approximately $2.3 million in funds at the time of award from its fiscal year 2016 and 2017 research-and-development budget.
