Crossmatch gets IARPA biometrics defense contract

Crossmatch wins a $5.8 million contract to develop technologies for a Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency-run biometric identification program

Security and identity management company Crossmatch has won a $5.8 million contract to develop technologies for a Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Agency program that seeks to combat false representations of biometric data.

Through its “Thor” program, IARPA aims to figure out when someone attempts to disguise their true biometric identity in order to get around security systems.

Crossmatch will work to build so-called “presentation attack technologies” that can collect information from biometric samples and identify unknown presentation attacks.

Research-and-development activity will take place through early 2021.

Based in Palm Bach Gardens, Fla., Crossmatch develops biometric identity management hardware and software for government agencies such as those in law enforcement and the military.
