81 companies win $25B CMS contract
The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a contract with a $25 billion ceiling to 81 companies to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Strategic Partners Acquisition Readiness Contract Program.
The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a contract with a $25 billion ceiling to 81 companies to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Strategic Partners Acquisition Readiness Contract Program.
Under the five-year contract with five option years, the companies will compete for task orders to offer a variety of information technology professional services to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, including:
- Initiation, concept and planning services
- Requirements services
- Design services
- Development services
- Test services
- Service Component Architecture services
- Maintenance services
- Independent Verification and Validation services
- Data request services
Fifty-four of the winning companies are small businesses. Of those, 28 are women-owned small businesses, seven are service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses and four are HUBZone. CMS has reserved task orders less than $29 million for small businesses.
Among the large business winners are Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Accenture, IBM and HP.

The contract is already under protest by one company, Next Phase Solutions and Services Inc., which filed its protest earlier this week.
CMS will use the contract for strategic, technical and program management services. The agency wants to modernize business processes and supporting systems and their operations. Some of the systems include the Federal Healthcare Exchange and Medicare/Medicaid information technology systems.
Other parts of HHS also may use the contract as well.
