Lockheed gets $197.6M contract mod for Aegis support

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $197.6 million contract modification to support the Navy’s Aegis defense system.

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $197.6 million contract modification to support the Navy’s Aegis defense system.

Aegis, which means shield in Greek, is a command and control system that uses computers and radars and other systems to track and guide defensive and offensive weapons.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will provide Aegis combat system engineering agent efforts for the design, development, integration, test, and delivery of computer program baselines and associated technology insertion hardware design support for the next advanced capability build.

Work will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., and Manassas, Va., and is expected to be completed in October 2019.
