The Homeland Security Department has selected Sean McAfee, deputy director of the National Cybersecurity Assessment and Technical Services, to lead a new cyber operations division of its new Silicon Valley office, according to Federal News Radio.

The division is officially open after getting off the ground in early February.

One of McAfee’s main efforts will be to recruit cyber talent, which could prove difficult since some NPPD components, such as U.S. CERT, do not have facilities in Silicon Valley that can provide employees access to classified networks, according to FCW.

The new office will also focus on finding innovations that the government can scale across agencies, Federal News Radio reported.
