General Atomics wins $34M contract to develop software line

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems has won a $34 million contract with the Air Force to develop and field the Air Force Special Operations Command MQ-9 Medium Altitude Long Endurance Tactical Lead-Off Hitter software line.

Under the contract, General Atomics will establish, define, and grow a process to field capabilities.The MQ-9 is an unmanned aerial vehicle.

This will include addressing activities driving software changes such as: software defect corrections, threats, policy or doctrine driven, safety, interoperability, and software changes resulting from hardware upgrades, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Poway, Calif., Clovis, N.M., and Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and is expected to be completed Feb. 28, 2018.
