Air Force seeks support for its GeoBase services for Pacific-based installations

The U.S. Air Force released a solicitation for Pacific Air Force Installation GeoBase support services that will set up a common, secure geospatial information infrastructure to boost situational awareness at several Air Force installations.

The support services will provide a geospatial information structure that electronically depicts built and natural infrastructure on each installation. The services will aid the warfighters’ unique emerging needs in both in expeditionary and garrison GeoBased environments.

Under the solicitation, the contractor will provide personnel and software applications to keep geospatial information systems (GIS) technology state of the art and meeting the mission requirements. The company will also assist with geo-enabled features of GeoBase services, such acquiring, developing and enhancing hardware and software tools, integrating them into the existing systems, and providing training.

GeoBase was commissioned in July 2001. It supports the Air Force civil engineering mission. GeoBase services include several areas.

Strategic GeoBase offers visualization from a broader, regional level that emphasizes interaction between Air Force installations.

Garrison GeoBase integrates many overlapping mapping work across installations.

Expeditionary GeoBase provides streamlined, forward-deploy of Garrison GeoBase capabilities.

Finally, GeoReach is an extension Expeditionary GeoBase that provides an expeditionary site mapping and base location capabilities for aircraft and forces that are bedded down.

The Air Force issued the solicitation Oct. 27. Responses are due by Nov. 25.
