Enough with the executive orders, trade organizations tell White House

Four contracting trade associates have banded together to call for the cessation of executive actions that target the federal contracting community.

In a letter addressed to White House chief of staff Dennis McDonough and senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, the trade organizations noted that 12 executive orders have been issued pertaining to government contractors and requested that no more be made.

The organizations, which include the National Defense Industrial Association, the Aerospace Industries Association, the Professional Services Council and the IT Alliance for Public Sector, said that these executive orders have led to 16 new regulations, some of which they support, but others of which increase the costs of doing business with the government—by as much as thirty cents of every contract dollar.

This is at a time, the trade organizations said, when government budgets are under siege and cost efficiency is essential. “The rapid growth in compliance requirements is becoming untenable,” the organizations said in the letter.
