Harris scores $3.9B rifleman radio contract

Harris has won a 10-year $3.9 billion contract to provide the Army with Rifleman radios and associated services under the Joint Tactical Radio System Handheld, Manpack and Small-form Fit program.

Rifleman radios are lightweight, hand-held radios that transmit voice and video data using the Soldier Radio Waveform, Harris said in a release. It allows soldiers to send information up and down the chain of command as well as across the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical backbone.

Under the contract, Harris will deliver 50 radios for qualification testing with full rate production fielding scheduled in fiscal 2017, the company said.
