Northrop Grumman has won a $21.8 million contract to provide the Missile Defense Agency with on-orbit operations and sustainment for the Space Tracking and Surveillance System.
Northrop Grumman has won a $21.8 million contract to provide the Missile Defense Agency with on-orbit operations and sustainment for the Space Tracking and Surveillance System.
The Space Tracking and Surveillance System detects and tracks ballistic missiles, allowing interceptors to engage incoming missiles earlier in flight than would be possible with other missile detection systems.
This contract brings the total value of the original contract to $2.4 billion, the Defense Department said in a release.
Work will be performed in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Redondo Beach, Calif., and is expected to be completed in March 2016.
