General Dynamics to support Navy submarine R&D

General Dynamics has won a $24.3 million contract with the Navy to contribute to the development of advanced submarine technologies for current and future submarine platforms.

The company will provide the Navy with engineering and technical design services to support research and development of advanced submarine technologies.

These research and development studies will support the reliability, survivability, hull integrity, performance, logistics, weapons handling and storage, submarine safety, and affordability of submarines, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Groton, Conn., and is expected to be completed by October 2015.
