Unisys wins $100M European Commission IT contract

Unisys-led team wins $100 million for IT support and services for the European Commission.

Unisys Corp. has won a $100 million contract to provide IT support and services to the European Commission.

The contract is part of the External Service Provision for Development, Studies and Support for Information Systems III or ESP-DESIS contract.

The overall contract is worth $900 million, but Unisys’ portion is valued at $100 million, the company said. The contracts support 40,000 civil servants.

Unisys will support applications, architecture, information management, web content, data warehousing, business intelligence and geographical information systems.

The contract was won by Unisys’ Belgium-based business known as Unisys Belgium. The company leads two consortiums: one for project management, analytics and consulting and another for support of functional and business needs of the European Commission.

Unisys is a teammate on a Trasys Group-led consortium that work on development requirements for environments including Oracle, Java and Microsoft SharePoint.

Unisys didn’t compete for a fourth lot, the company said.

Initially, Unisys will have 160 people working on the contract.

The company’s teammates on the contract include Trasys Group, Atos, Sogeti, Intrasoft, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Everis, Engineering Ingegneria Informatica (EII), Iris and Piksel.
