CGI Federal’s Toni Townes-Whitley has moved on to become the vice president of Microsoft’s Worldwide Public Sector.

In her new role, Townes-Whitley will oversee sales and marketing employees in the government, education and non-commercial health care markets.

She left her role as chief operating officer and senior vice president of CGI's civilian business as of a week ago, she told Washington Technology in an interview. Next week, she will attend a review of all of Microsoft's worldwide leaders, and in March, she will be relocating to Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Wash.

“I’m going to do my best to get back in the next few of months. I’m still on some boards here and obviously involved with a number of the technology associations here, so I’ll try to do about a three or four month transition through the summer,” she said.

Townes-Whitley is excited about the move. “[The Seattle-Redmond area] is one with a lot of water and a lot of rain and a lot of coffee.”
