Wyle has tapped chief operating officer Roger Wiederkehr to be its new CEO after current CEO George Melton steps down at the end of the year. Melton will continue as chairman of the board.

The succession process spanned two years, said Melton in a statement.

Wiederkehr joined Wyle in 2005 and has held senior executive positions until being named COO at the end of 2012. Before Wyle, he worked as a member of URS’ Corporate Strategy Group. He also worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Melton also joined Wyle in 2005 as president and CEO. Before Wyle, he also worked at URS, but in the company’s EG&G Division. He has helped grow Wyle from $450 million to around $900 million.
