DISA seeks small biz for battlefield efficiency

The Defense Information System Agency is surveying the market for small businesses with expertise that can make battlefield operations more efficient.

Specifically, DISA is looking for subject matter expertise, meeting support, and consulting services for configuration management of military standards, including tactical datalink and message text formats.

The project will focus on increasing situational awareness that makes efficient use of scarce battle management resources, sending out intelligence information via integrated warfighter systems and net-centric platforms, and development and testing of systems, including XML implementations of certain elements of the Joint Interoperability of Tactical Command, Control Systems elements (JINTACCS).

In addition, DISA wants more efficiencies in defense systems development by accelerating the movement of interoperable Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems, such as providing metadata and discovery tagging to extend information into the Global Information Grid (GIG).

DISA wants feedback from companies designated as small disadvantaged businesses, Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) firms, 8(a) small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, and woman-owned small business.

DISA released its request for information Sept. 29. Responses are due by Oct. 14.
