Northrop Grumman partners with U.K. initiative to promote STEM, cybersecurity

Northrop Grumman has partnered with Cyber Security Challenge U.K. to bring its U.S. national youth cyber education program, CyberPatriot, to the U.K. as part of the company’s efforts to promote STEM education and build the U.K.’s cybersecurity talent.

"Promoting education in STEM is a core focus for Northrop Grumman and this partnership provides a fantastic opportunity for us to demonstrate how we can apply our industry leading knowledge and experience in cyber to stimulate an interest in STEM and help build the U.K. talent pool in cyber security," said Andrew Tyler, chief executive Europe, Northrop Grumman.

The companies are putting together a competition game called CyberCenturion that will allow young people to get their first real experience of the scenarios and challenges that existing professionals have to deal with daily, Northrop said in a release.

The program will begin in October with two tester competitions and the full game will begin later this year. Teams will compete, with six of them advancing to a face-to-face final in April 2015.
