Northrop Grumman wins $89.7M extension to Air Force contract

Northrop Grumman has won an $89.7 million option to continue operating and supporting the Air Force’s Battlefield Airborne Communications Node system.

The system is a high-altitude, airborne communications and information gateway that connects warfighters in the air and on the ground, distributing voice communications, video, imagery and other battlespace information. It supports overseas contingency missions, Northrop said in a release.

Northrop Grumman was first awarded the contract in April 2005, and the system was deployed in 2008.
