Alion Science and Technology Corp. has won a $47.7 million Air Force task order to support the testing and evaluation of global force protection systems.

The work falls under the Advanced Materials, Manufacturing and Testing Information Analysis Center contract held by Alion. The center pulls in information from across government agencies, research labs, industry and academia that might help solve tough scientific and technical defense problems, according to its website.

Alion holds a sole-source contract to support the center in designing and developing system testing, evaluation processes and procedures and advanced manufacturing techniques.

The task order coves work through the end of 2016.

Alion is ranked No. 36 on the 2014 Washington Technology Top 100 list of the largest government contractors.
