Raytheon has won a $22 million contract to provide software coding and security to the Air Force to upgrade the military GPS system.

The company will work to mature the software coding of GPS receiver cards and perform security certification to enable faster fielding of military code capable GPS receivers to the warfighter, the Defense Department said in a release.
Work will be performed in El Segundo, Calif., and is expected to be completed by Aug. 31, 2015.
The Air Force awarded a similar contract to Rockwell Collins on Wednesday.
