The Chertoff Group has picked up a new principal: former House Committee on Homeland Security chief of staff Greg Hill.

Hill will use his national security and financial services background to advise clients on growing business, identifying threats, reducing vulnerabilities and protecting critical assets domestically and abroad, the firm said in a news release.

Before joining The Chertoff Group, Hill managed congressional oversight for the $48 billion-per-year Homeland Security Department as the House Committee on Homeland Security chief of staff, providing leadership and support to the committee’s 32 members and 75 professional staff.

Hill has also served as chief of staff for representatives Michael McCaul and Steve Pearce.

Prior to his stint as a public servant, Hill worked in senior business development positions with Merrill Lynch and The Hartford Financial Services Group.

Hill holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of the South and a master’s degree in international business from the University of South Carolina.
