Lockheed taps new president of Space Systems division

Lockheed Martin has named retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Mike Hamel president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems’ Commercial Ventures division.

Lockheed Martin has named retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Mike Hamel president of Lockheed Martin Space Systems’ Commercial Ventures division, SpaceNews reports. He replaces Linda Reiners, who will be taking a new position as vice president of the company’s Corporate Ventures operation.

The unit’s Commercial Ventures division builds telecommunications and remote sending satellites for non-U.S. government customers.

Hamel joins Lockheed from Orbital Sciences Corp., where he served as senior vice president of corporate strategy and relations. He was formerly the commander of the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center, SpaceNews reported.
