F-16 simulator program keeps growing for L-3

L-3 Communications sees simulator work continue to grow under F-16 flight training contract.
L-3 Communications won an $18.5 million contract modification to continue providing simulators to train F-16 pilots for the Air Force.
The company’s Link Simulation and Training group in Arlington, Texas, won the modification, which raises the value of this contract with the Air Force to $316.5 million.
Work will take place at Arlington. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio is the contracting activity.
The company is providing the simulators under the M6.2+ Operational Flight Program for the F-16 Mission Training Center.
According to the company’s website, L-3 is providing high-fidelity simulators that model the F-16’s weapons systems and ordinance. The simulators used high definition databases, image generation systems, physics-based processing technology and visual system displays to create realistic training environments.
