Dewberry names new principal for cloud services

Dewberry has hired Ryan Hughes to bring more cloud expertise to the company.

Dewberry has named Ryan Hughes principal consultant of cloud services, where he will be responsible for designing and delivering cloud solutions to the company’s commercial, local, state and federal government customers.

Hughes was previously the co-founder and chief strategy officer of Skygone, which is a cloud firm focused on geospatial applications, Dewberry said in a release.

At Skygone, Hughes was a partner of Dewberry’s cloud services team, helping the company to win the Western States Contracting Alliance’s Public Cloud Hosting contract.

This contract provides the ability for customers to aggregate cloud usage together in one pool, resulting in volume price discounts from the world’s leading cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services, the company said.

Before Skygone, Hughes worked at Esri as a deputy business manager.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Bowling Green State University, and a master’s of business administration in project management from the Pennsylvania State University.
