SAIC wins more medical research support work
SAIC to provide operational medicine research modeling support to the Naval Health Research Center, in addition to the physiological and psychological wellness research services that the company is already providing.
Science Applications International Corp. has won a $13 million contract to provide modeling support to the Naval Health Research Center.
This is the company's second contract award with the Naval Health Research Center in just two days. Yesterday, the company was awarded $24 million toward research that will account for the physiological and psychological health of soldiers in extreme conditions.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, awarded by the Naval Medical Logistics Command, has a one-year base and two option years. Work is to take place in San Diego, Calif.
Under the contract, the company will provide data analytics and operational maintenance research modeling services including the detection of casualties that happen from operational medicine.
"We are proud to support the Naval Health Research Center and provide analysis of medical and scientific data to help ensure our military personnel are prepared to serve and achieve their mission," said Steve Comber, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
The company said that work is dependent on the collection, characterization, analysis and reporting of data from multiple sources, including in-house sources such as the CTR Expeditionary Medical Encounter database and external sources including the Military Health System, and tactical, civilian and homeland defense, operational and personnel data.
