General Dynamics tasked with upgrading IHS health info system
Under the $20.6M contract, GDIT will provide software engineering and support services for the Indian Health Service.
General Dynamics Information Technology will provide software engineering and support services for the Indian Health Service’s electronic health information system under a five-year contract from the Health and Human Services Department that has a potential total value of $20.6 million, if all options are exercised.
The IHS system, Resource and Patient Management System, is used to direct patient care for American Indian and Alaska Native patients at facilities located across the country. It also provides medical insight such as treatment outcomes and best practices through tools like clinical analytics and population-health measurement, the August 13 announcement said.
Under the contract, General Dynamics will connect the Indian Health Service’s facilities to the nationwide health information network. GDIT also will reengineer and integrate legacy applications to meet the Indian Health Service’s evolving business models.
