ManTech hires retired CIA vet to lead intell solutions group

Dean May will lead advanced-technology plans for company’s Mission, Cyber and Intelligence Solutions group.

ManTech International Corp. has hired Dean May, Ph.D., as vice president of intelligence solutions for its Mission, Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (MCIS) group.

He will lead advanced technology programs that enhance cyber solutions, as well as the company’s continued growth in the intelligence community.

“May brings unique experience that will ultimately enhance our capacity to meet emerging threats as part of our expanded cyber intelligence capability,” said L. William Varner, president and COO of ManTech’s MCIS group, in an April 17 announcement.

May recently retired from the CIA after more than 30 years in the intelligence community, including a stint at the National Reconnaissance Office.

He spent most of his career in CIA’s Directorate of Science and Technology, leading research and development efforts across directorates in an effort to enhance our nation’s intelligence capabilities.

May is a recipient of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal for outstanding leadership and the CIA John A. McCone Award for development of an innovative, world-class collection capability.

ManTech International, of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 22 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
