CGI to transition NRC financial services to cloud

Contract calls for transferring NRC's accounting systems from current hosting provider to CGI's Momentum Community Cloud infrastructure.

CGI Federal Inc. will provide cloud-based financial services to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission under a six-year, $21.28 million contract.

The U.S. subsidiary of CGI Group will host the NRC’s financial accounting and management systems in the CGI-hosted Momentum Community Cloud, with the goal of reducing costs while increasing efficiencies, according to a Feb. 9 news release.

Under the contract, CGI will transition NRC’s Financial Accounting Integrated Management Information Systems from its current hosting provider to CGI’s Momentum Community Cloud infrastructure.

The Momentum Community Cloud is built in CGI’s certified, secure cloud and provides a shared infrastructure that is dedicated to Momentum’s federal government Enterprise Resource Planning clients that have unique security and compliance requirements, the announcement said.

Additionally, CGI will provide end-to-end application support, including help desk, maintenance, systems analysis, and training.

“Last year, we partnered with NRC to replace a dozen legacy financial systems with one integrated enterprisewide system, streamlining their processes and increasing efficiency – to help them do more with less,” said Toni Townes-Whitley, senior vice president at CGI. “Transitioning the NRC’s system to the cloud takes these efforts to the next level.”

CGI delivers cloud solutions for both the government and commercial enterprise markets in the U.S. and Canada.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal, Que., ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
