Citizant devises energy-measurement system for HUD
When completed the data-monitoring system will track and report on how grant funds are being used for energy conservation.
Citizant, a government provider of business transformation and information-sharing solutions, has won a $2.8 million IT contract from the Housing and Urban Development Department.
The 17-month award calls for Citizant to create the Capture Energy Efficiency Measures for Public and Indian Housing data system, according to a Jan. 24 company announcement.
When completed the new system will give HUD an enhanced ability to track and report how grant funds are being used for energy conservation measures within public and Indian housing units.
The Chantilly, Va.-based contractor will take advantage of its experience with HUD’s Recovery Act Management and Performance System and the National Housing Locator System to create the technology needed for the new system.
The solution will feature an iterative-release process containing application demos and highly interactive customer-stakeholder review meetings to ensure that the solutions are developed against the desired set of requirements and standards.
Each year, HUD issues grants that total between $2 billion and $2.5 billion through the Capital Fund program and more than $700 million annually through the Indian Housing Block Grant and the Indian Community Development Block Grant programs, the announcement said.
