HP CEO pledges $2B for cloud deployments

Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO reveals plans to ramp up its cloud, mobility and enterprise software offerings.

Hewlett-Packard Co. has big plans to boost its cloud, mobility and enterprise software offerings, CEO Leo Apotheker said during the 2011 HP Discover opening address in Las Vegas on June 6, writes Kevin McLaughlin of CRN.

Particularly focused on situating HP as the “go-to purveyor of hybrid cloud infrastructure,” Apotheker said the company is allocating $2 billion for its clients who want to invest in cloud deployments, CRN reported.

HP is banking on its cloud inventory bearing fruit in the next few years and is in the process of offering infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service and Open Cloud Marketplace as well as a public cloud launch soon, according to the report.

Hewlett-Packard Co. is ranked no. 7 on Washington Technology's Top 100 contractor list.
