Kratos’ tech support continues at Navy warfare center

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions Inc. will continue providing engineering and technical support for various Navy, Marine Corps and joint weapons and munitions programs at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division under a five-year, $126 million contract.

Terms of the award call for the company to continue its work for various Navy, Marine Corps and joint weapons and munitions programs at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, according to a company announcement made May 5.

Kratos' Technical Services Division at Dahlgren, Va., provides expert, hands-on support for weapons development, logistics, engineering, test and analysis, and program management.

The unit will work with the center’s Engagement Systems Department to support research and development analyses, including lethality and effectiveness analyses, and systems engineering and integration on weapon launcher systems.

The award also covers novel weapon system technologies and advanced payloads; non-lethal engagement systems; expeditionary weapons, ammunition and ammunition systems, targeting systems; and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance technologies.

"This is a significant award for our company and our largest Seaport-e award of 2011," Eric DeMarco, president of Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, of San Diego, said in the announcement.
