Salient closes two-for-one deal

Salient Federal Solutions Inc. acquires two companies in a single deal as it adds software development and cybersecurity offerings.

Salient was founded in 2009 by four former SI International Inc. executives – Antlee, Ray Oleson, Ted Dunn and Tom Lloyd.

Salient Federal Solutions Inc., a provider of federal IT and engineering solutions, has acquired Command Information Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary AnviCom, a provider of network-centric IT services and solutions for government and industry, based in Alexandria, Va.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not released.

This is the second acquisition the company has closed in less than a year.

The latest deal will deepen Salient’s software development capability, extend its cybersecurity offerings, and enhance access to clients through a prime position on the Encore II contract vehicle, according to a Salient statement released today.

In 2006, Command Information acquired Digital Focus and AnviCom, an Encore II small-business prime contractor to the federal government.

A market provider in IPv6 technology, Command Information brings technology, consulting and engineering expertise in cybersecurity and deep-packet inspection to the expanding generation of modern networks, according to the statement.

Specifically, with the acquisition of Command Information, Salient will have a significant presence at the United States Transportation Command, providing round-the-clock tracking of in-transit cargo worldwide. Additionally, Salient will have a stronger position in IPv6 intrusion detection and prevention solutions by offering of Assure6, an award-winning enterprisewide IPv6 policy management product.

Also, existing and potential customers will have direct, streamlined access to the company’s services through DISA’s Encore II indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract.

Command Information and AnviCom have successfully developed and maintained complex systems for nearly 20 years, said Brad Antle, president and CEO of Salient, in the announcement.

“The addition of the Command Information and AnviCom teams to our company will allow us to further fulfill our mission to deliver highly adaptive technology and engineering solutions that enable clients to meet the pressing needs of today,” he said.

Salient Federal made its first acquisition when it acquired SGIS, an IT services and solutions provider to the federal government, in June 2010.
