TCS adds former satellite CEO to government sales unit

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. has named Patrick Brant vice president sales and marketing of its Government Solutions Group.

TeleCommunication Systems Inc. has named Patrick Brant vice president of sales and marketing for its Government Solutions Group.

Brant will direct a team of business development, sales and marketing professionals focusing on expanding the company’s growth into new markets and customers, according to a company announcement released today.

Brant, who will report to Michael Bristol, senior vice president and general manager of the group, brings to TCS almost 25 years of executive and senior management experience in technology business management, market development, sales and operations.

He has served as president and CEO of four satellite network companies, including Lavell Systems and Loral Skynet, and has successfully led a revitalization of six organizations through all stages of development, including an initial public offering.

The TCS Government Solutions Group is a provider of fixed and deployable communication solutions for government customers and mobile operators requiring high reliability and security.

Government clients include the Army, Air Force and Navy; Unified Combatant Commands; State and Homeland Security departments; Secret Service; and various intelligence agencies.

TCS, based in Annapolis, Md., has more than 1,000 employees, and company executives say they expect TCS' combined commercial and government revenues to be between $430 million and $450 million this year, which would mean a 50 percent growth rate.
