CDC awards $103 million information network contract

Danya International Inc. will continue operating the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Prevention Information Network under a new contract worth up to $103 million, company officials confirmed today.

The National Prevention Information Network, or NPIN, provides information, resources, and technology focused on preventing HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases and tuberculosis, according to Danya.

NPIN is a web-based source of information and resources developed by the CDC National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention. The network serves prevention partners and stakeholders, Danya officials said.

One of NPIN’s objectives is to connect partners in public health through collaborative communications. The network also helps manage reference and referral services via the Internet, online databases and on-site resource centers.

Under the contract, Danya will manage e-mail lists, provide webcasting capabilities and develop, analyze and maintain new and existing databases.
