Command Information to support DOD's IPv6 transition

Command Information Inc. will help develop the information assurance guidance for Internet Protocol version 6 across the Defense Department under a task order potentially worth $4.4 million.

Under the contract, Command Information's AnviCom unit will support the DOD IPv6 Transition Office, company officials said April 14. The office must coordinate a coherent and timely IPv6 transition efforts across DOD, as well as develop common engineering solutions and implementation policy/guidelines enterprisewide.

The company will provide technical support to the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization, including recommendations for security and information assurance matters, the officials said. The company also will collaborate with the National Security Agency and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) on development of the DOD IPv6 information assurance guidance, and provide technical guidance for IPv6 implementation.

The task order was awarded by DISA’s Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization through the ENCORE II contract vehicle.

“DOD’s implementation of IPv6 is essential to realizing the full potential of the net-centric enterprise through the creation of the Global Information Grid,” Jerry Edgerton, Command Information’s chairman and chief executive officer, said.
