DOD awards $50 million contract for digital radios
The contract calls for Project 25-compliant radios that are designed to be interoperable among various groups.
EF Johnson Technologies Inc. won a $50 million contract from the Defense Department to provide two-way radios, and the company has received its first award under the contract for $5.9 million, company officials announced today.
The company will provide its ES Series Project 25-compliant two-way radios under the contract. Project 25 is a series of standards for digital radios designed to make communications interoperable among various military and first responder groups.
The company’s radios are FIPS-compliant with encryption algorithms to provide security, are submersible and are designed to meet the needs of first responders, according to the company.
