SAIC to triage DOD health info system

Science Applications International Corp. will provide medical technology services to the Defense Department under a two-year contract worth more than $19 million.
The task order calls for SAIC to provide technical services to the Defense Health Information Management System’s Composite Health Care System Cache 2. CHCS/TC2 is a theater inpatient system for collecting clinical documentation, robust computerized order entry, ancillary service management and clinical decision support. It helps capture, manage and share health data throughout DOD.
Under the task order, SAIC will develop and install a graphical user interface for the system, enhance its software and provide support services including testing, integration and project-level configuration and data management, SAIC officials said.
The contractor also will provide logistical operations and maintenance, site operations and training support, they added.
The task order was awarded under the Defense Medical Information Systems/Systems Integration, Design, Development, Operations and Maintenance Services (D/SIDDOMS) contract.
The work will be performed primarily in Falls Church, Va., and San Diego.
