STG Inc. will help the State Department establish a consolidated service center to handle human resources functions and activities under a five-year, $6.1 million contract.

Under the contract, STG will help State refine, develop and implement human resources functions, company officials said Nov. 10. The service center will be located at a facility under renovation at the former Navy base in Charleston, S.C.

The HR Service Center is part of a formal initiative to consolidate human resources support, standardize policies and achieve greater efficiencies through the use of a shared services platform, STG officials said.

STG, of Reston, Va., ranks No. 96 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
