Trusted Computer Solutions Inc. has acquired CounterStorm, a provider of internal network security and threat-analysis technologies. Financial terms were not disclosed.

TCS officials said that by combining TCS' Security Blanket with CounterStorm's threat-prevention applications, TCS will be able to offer customers a three-step approach to network security and threat analysis.

CounterStorm finds insider threats by identifying anomalies. It uses enterprisewide visibility and auto-containment capabilities to detect and thwart attacks introduced from within the network. The technology is designed to prevent cyber criminals from stealing classified information, company secrets and sensitive data.

"The acquisition of CounterStorm broadens our portfolio of security products for both the commercial and government markets," said Ed Hammersla, TCS' chief operating officer. "It is clear from recent events around the globe that sophisticated attacks and the 'insider threat' problem are happening and must be proactively addressed."

TCS, of Herndon, Va., develops solutions for secure access and classified information sharing. The company also is a supplier of Linux-based security applications.
