Eight companies won prime contracts to provide field support to Air Force facilities under a contract worth as much as $10.1 billion.

Eight companies won prime contracts to provide field support to Air Force facilities under a contract worth as much as $10.1 billion.

The Contract Field Teams program contract was awarded to AECOM Government Services Inc., Computer Sciences Corp., Defense Support Services LLC, DynCorp International, L3 Communications Integrated Systems' Vertex Aerospace Inc., Lear Siegler Services Inc., Northrop Grumman Technical Services Corp. and Kent Construction Co.

Under the contract, the companies will provide inspection, maintenance, modification and repair services at Air Logistics Centers, Air Combat Command, Air Mobility Command, Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard.

Contract Field Teams program contracts are also used to support needs generated by the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Federal Aviation Administration and other Federal agencies.

The program is designed to be able to rapidly deploy skilled technicians on site anywhere in the free world to support the United State's war readiness and planning needs.

Northrop Grumman ranks No. 3 and CSC ranks No. 9 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
