DHS needs information security support

The Homeland Security Department is seeking information from contractors that could provide technical support and analysis for its information security program, according to a notice posted July 7.

Under a planned solicitation, the department will need assistance with policy development and implementation, independent technology assessments, and acquisition documentation. It also wants help with evaluation and review, configuration management, and support for strategic planning for the National Security Systems initiatives and policy.

Contractors interested in the opportunity should be able to provide independent, unbiased systems and security engineering analysis and guidance in addition to strong technical support to maintain and improve the existing security program.

DHS' Office of Information Security is responsible for establishing a departmentwide information security program under the direction of the department's chief information security officer. The information security program must comply with a wide array of laws, regulations and departmental directives.

DHS' Office of the Chief Procurement Officer issued the notice. Responses are due July 16.
