Apptis Inc. will provide critical network operations and information assurance support to the U.S. Central Command in Bahrain and at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Fla., under a multiyear award worth about $25 million.

Under the terms of the Defense Information Systems Agency task order, Apptis will provide round-the-clock network operations and help-desk support to ensure that continuous command and control communications systems are available to troops in combat zones.

Enhancing network management and providing continuous communications services will ensure the rapid and secure transmission of classified and unclassified voice, data, video and satellite communications to command centers in southwest Asia and the United States, Apptis officials said.

"With highly sensitive operations throughout the world, Centcom requires sophisticated technology systems to ensure its people are able to complete their missions," said Michael Carroll, a senior vice president at Apptis.

Centcom is a joint services command responsible for combat operations in southwest Asia, which includes Iraq and Afghanistan.

Apptis, of Chantilly, Va., ranks No. 47 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal prime contractors.
