FAA wants help with cultural transformation

The FAA is conducting a market survey to determine the availability of contractors to assist with the cultural transformation of its Air Traffic Organization.

The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting a market survey to determine the availability of contractors to assist with the cultural transformation of its Air Traffic Organization.

To help transform ATO into a performance-based organization, FAA plans to hire a contractor with the requisite training credentials to facilitate cultural change. The contractor should be well-versed in the field of organizational behavior and be able to show examples of successful, large-scale cultural transformations that it has achieved for other clients.

As part of the project, the contractor will develop a survey and assessment tool to measure progress, furnish analysis and reports, provide progress on metrics, and design and implement steps necessary to close gaps and achieve cultural transformation.

ATO's mission is to move commercial and military air traffic safely and efficiently. Its workforce comprises 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers and support employees.

FAA expects the contract award to run through September 2011. Responses to the market survey are due June 30.
