Apptis Inc. will help the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation reach out to consumers under a new call center contract.

Apptis Inc. will help the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation reach out to consumers under a $14 million call center contract.

Apptis will handle ongoing services for FDIC's central call center operations under the contract, company officials said. Apptis employees will operate the call center.

As part of the project, Apptis is required to provide a business continuity and disaster recovery plan to ensure uninterrupted levels of service should a national emergency or disaster occur.

The FDIC call center handles about 20,000 calls each month, Apptis said. The information provided to consumers involves a wide range of financial and banking-related topics.

Apptis, of Chantilly, Va., ranks No. 47 on Washington Technology's 2008 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
