BearingPoint Inc. has finished installing a new pension administration system for Louisiana that will improve its speed and accuracy.

By replacing a 20-year-old system with the new State of Louisiana Retirement Information System, known as SOLARIS, Louisiana will improve and streamline its business processes, compile and maintain more accurate pension data, and provide more timely information to retirees and state agencies, the company said.

In addition, new self-service Internet functions, which will become available later this year, will give members and agencies direct access to their own information and new communication channels with the state system.

BearingPoint won the $16.3 million contract in 2004. The project was delayed by hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, a company spokesman said.

SOLARIS is the third successful state implementation of the BearingPoint Pension Administration System in the past 12 months, after North Carolina and Georgia.

BearingPoint, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 24 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
